Curious, experienced empathetic director,
I’m a creative thinker, we can always do things better! I’ve demonstrated social, environmental and economic sustainability works.
As a Director I’ve added value to complex high growth customer facing entities and demonstrated leadership through many governance roles, as a director of public listed, large privately owned companies, crown entities, trusts and substantial charitable organisations. Waka Kotahi NZTA, Kidicorp -Best Start, Ngati Awa Group Holdings, JUCY, AECT (now Entrust), Auckland Kindergarten Association.
Strategy, business development, building alliances, strong culture and customer relationships were central to them all.
As a City Councillor for 6 years, chairing a major committee, I saw the potential for the Arts Festival and poured my energy into re-starting it, Festivals are rich and good for a city’s soul, for the people in a city to have a sense of place, for the economy, for tourism and of course for artists. I got the Indoor arena started – a successful PPP.
I chose to retire from Auckland City to go back into business & started Cityhop, NZ’s first car share business, before anyone was even thinking about climate change or multi modal transport. No great city says let’s have more cars!
Community is important to me. I’ve done a lot in early childhood education. Now my energy is on recreating the amazing facility for the physically disabled that was Laura Fergusson Auckland.
