Prince Philip taught me compassion
Yes that is a strange thing for woman in New Zealand to say! I did the Duke of Edinburgh’s award and for many weeks I volunteered at Ravensthorpe geriatric and psychiatric hospital. This story tells of the experience and perhaps why I am so concerned about Laura Fergusson in Auckland closing. The Duke of Edinburgh taught me compassion. When he died I thought about his wonderful contribution with the Duke of Edinburgh Award. A programme designed to give young people experiences outside the classroom to become committed, responsible and fulfilled citizens of the world.
